Job Details:
Purpose

Collaborate to streamline processes using inventory management and documentation, including participating in assembly to better understand critical assembly details.

Responsibilities
  • Administrate Wasp inventory management software accurately in order to ensure staff can assemble products. In the database, enter items to show on-hand quantity or when material expires, and define assemblies based on items to show how many assemblies can be made or how many items need to be purchased. Review purchase order requests in a timely manner to validate appropriate and adequate storage, as well as order quantity. Update the database with vendor, cost, and lead time to support purchase planning.
  • Organize inventory storage according to forecasted work. Ensure items are properly stored according to organizational policies in order to prevent loss, enable ergonomic access, and prevent safety hazards. Periodically review inventory age and order history in order to adjust purchasing and support disposition. Inform the building manager when excess raw material, surplus, or inventory has accumulated in order to plan additional storage, donation, long-term storage, shipment, recycling, disposal, or secure destruction.
  • Read and understand electrical and mechanical technical drawings, ASME, IEEE, IPC, and Mil-Spec Standards to oversee compliance during assembly and inspection. Details must be followed for products to function as intended. Communicate discrepancies to engineering team to draw teams together, agree upon a solution, and correct documents. Inform the building manager to support development of policy and best practices.
  • Photograph and record videos of assembly processes by iPad. Organize and store all recordings and photos in network folders for access by assembly and engineering teams in order to review, revise, and train others. Outline and revise rough drafts of undocumented assembly procedures, ensuring they are clear, concise, and easy to follow. Coordinate with assembly and engineering teams to fill gaps, make corrections, and identify improvements. Ensure only the final accepted copy is in the network folder and upload it to the intranet for document control purposes.
  • Fabrication of mechanical or electrical assemblies, inspection of goods using a camera, gauge, ruler, caliper, or multimeter, relocating items, training others to use software and assemble products, and preparing slides of related material.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • HS/GED.
  • Seven years years with electromechanical and electronic or industrial assembly, manufacturing, or construction.
  • Basic Computer Literacy: using a keyboard and mouse, to select, copy, paste, text, send and receive email, and search the internet.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word: able to learn features such as formatting, functions, and formulas. Math Skills: Proficient with math operators, rounding, fractions, measurement, area, and perimeter.
  • Database and Inventory Management: experience creating spreadsheets and databases, as well as managing on-hand quantity, purchasing, and shelf-life management.
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate

Demonstrated ability to work independently and with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member with and without daily supervision, work several overlapping projects over a short period of time, ability to work within an environment with rapidly changing priorities, and effectively communicate with all groups of clients. Able to work under pressure and accept supervision. Regular and punctual attendance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and three or more years in database administration.
  • Eight or more years of experience with electromechanical and electronic or industrial assembly, manufacturing, or construction.
  • Knowledge of HF SONAR technologies.
  • Experience in using electrical diagnostic and repair equipment including multi-meter, oscilloscope, and soldering iron.
  • Experience operating machinery, including operating a manual CNC, manual lathe, bandsaw, driving a forklift, operating a small barge for lake testing, and other related tools.

Salary Range

$54,000-$64,000+/negotiable depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • Work in a shared integration lab, with access to machining equipment.
  • Work in a production environment building assemblies that involve adhesives, potting compounds, solvents, and other hazardous materials.
  • Occasional: work at the Lake Travis Test Station, interstate and intrastate travel.
  • May work around electrical and mechanical hazards.
  • Some weekend, evening and holiday work.
